About tapbytap

What is tapbytap?

tapbytap is a maths practice tool focused on the fundamentals — times tables, number bonds, and mental arithmetic — the building blocks that underpin all later maths learning. It runs entirely in your browser: there is nothing to install, and no account needed to start. Sign up for free to save progress and results across sessions.

Why we built it

Fluency in times tables and number bonds doesn't come from rote recitation — it comes from repeated, targeted practice over time. We built tapbytap to make that practice as efficient and low-friction as possible: no distractions, just focused exercises that adapt to what you need most.

The adaptive learning engine tracks which facts each student finds difficult and prioritises those, so every minute of practice counts. Timed tests allows you to assess progress over time.

MTC preparation

The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a statutory government assessment for Year 4 pupils in England. Our MTC module emulates the format of the real test — 25 questions, 6 seconds per question, 3-second gaps between questions, manual submission — so you can practise under realistic conditions and build the confidence to perform well on the day.
