Mathdoku is a cage-based arithmetic puzzle. Every row and column of the 5×5 grid must contain the digits 1 to 5, exactly once each — the same rule as a Sudoku row or column.
On top of that, the grid is divided into "cages" — groups of cells marked with a target number and an operation (add, subtract, multiply or divide). The digits you place inside a cage must combine using that operation to reach the target. Working out where each number goes means combining the row/column rule with the cage arithmetic.
You start each puzzle with 5 stars. Every wrong guess costs one star, so it pays to think before you place a digit. Run out of stars, and the solution is revealed automatically so you can see how the puzzle fits together.
When you finish — whether you solve it yourself or the solution is revealed — you get a shareable result card showing your star score, ready to post or send to friends.
